How I Got Lost.

Unjustifiable Actions.

I watched Valkyrie today with my brother. It was awesome (emphasis on the word awesome). It has made me more intrigued with the whole Adolf Hitler story. So, I have relied on the oh-so-very-trustworthy Wikipedia to feed my thirst of knowledge on Adolf Hitler. Wow, what a sentence. Haha. Well, there were a lot of things that I didn’t know about the earlier years of his life. Like how he used to want to be a painter, or how his Dad abused him and his mother. Also, how, in a point of his life he was homeless. Anyways, I’ve still got a lot more reading to do. The Adolf Hitler Wikipedia page is extremely lengthy and verbose.

Anyways, on to other things. This has been on my mind the past couple of years. I always had this strong feeling (not a good feeling) about you. It’s come to a point where it’s just sad. You’re a sad person. Such a sad, sad, sad person. You try so hard to be something that you’re not. Stop it. Like, really. Just be yourself. If people don’t like it, then fuck it. Stop pretending you’re a fictional character. Stop trying to be Caucasian. It’s not that there’s anything wrong for wanting to be Caucasian, but you try so hard that it just looks so fake and pathetic. Stop copying other people. Stop dissing your own race.

Oh god, it sounds like I hate you, but I don’t. I really don’t. I just feel really sorry for you. You’re really nice to talk to when you’re being yourself. I enjoy our conversations when you’re yourself.

And, you should also stop using people. It hurts. You don’t know how it feels like when people use you, so you don’t understand how we feel. You only started talking to me when you had no one else to talk to and this is not your first time doing this. At first I went along with it, but why should I stoop to such a level in which the people I talk to are only talking to me because they don’t have anyone else to talk to. That’s not fair to me right?

I’ve tried to keep my opinions to myself, and I have successfully done so since I finished school, which was around November. That should add up to nearly 3 months. 3 months of keeping everything to myself. Damn, that’s a record. But, I don’t want to be that kind of person who keeps EVERYTHING inside till one day I turn fucking crazy. It’s nice to share my opinions once in awhile.

Art Finally Arrives!

I woke up today thinking it would be like any other day. Brushed my teeth and took a shower. Turned on my computer. Watched The City. Checked out Perez Hilton for my daily dose of celebrity news and gossip. Looked around some fansites that I regularly check every week. The last fansite I clicked on was a Twilight fansite. Read a couple of their new posts and then I came upon one post that literally got my jumping up and down. You know that movie “How To Be” ? The one I have been waiting ages to see but can’t because it’s release is very limited. Well, apparently, they’re going to be showing the movie here in Singapore as part of the 22nd Singapore International Film Festival. Yes, you read correctly. In Singapore! On April 25 in Lido. And it just so happens to be rated NC16, so I’ll definitely be able to watch it! Now, I’m trying to find the price of the ticket and how to book it. I can’t take any chances. I don’t want to go there and find out that the tickets are all sold out. This is like… my only chance!

“How To Be” movie trailer.

Movie Synopsis.

“Art is young, middle class and quite depressed. He is going through a quarter life crisis just when his girlfriend dumps him and he has to move back to live with his uncommunicative parents – who are far from thrilled with the idea. His equally damaged friends, volunteer work and music are no help to his growing anxiety so he turns to psychology guru Dr. Levi Ellington whose mode of treatment is to move in with the patient and shadow his every move. Poignant and occasionally dark, the film explores the increasingly common phenomena of grown-up children living at home, middle class depression and self-help. Robert Pattinson, who plays Art, is perhaps best known for his role as the benevolent and hunky vampire in Twilight. Won a Special Jury Honorable Mention at Slamdance.”

Saturday was nice. I went out with Wanqin to watch He’s Just Not That Into You. The movie was nice. Not great. Not horrible. It was just nice. It was weird, seeing Wanqin after many months. Honestly, we had nothing much to say to each other. The conversations we had were short and random. This did not happen when were in school. We could talk for hours with different things to say. Well, bascially, when we talked to each other, we talked about other people. Haha. Sometimes in a good way. Sometimes in a bad way. I’m guessing that since we haven’t seen any of our Hillgrove classmates/schoolmates in awhile, that’s why we had nothing to talk about. Haha. But I still love her. She’s my stupid weird short pink bra-ed gong brother!

After that, I came home. About two hours later, I went out with my brother (my real one, not Wanqin) to Queensway. We wanted to buy new shoes. He bought some awesome looking Adidas shoes. I saw this real real nice Adidas one too. It was dark chocolate brown. It was $65. Sadly, the sizes were too big for me. DAMN IT. So I didn’t get to buy any new shoes. I’ll just have to continue using my Converse shoes. After buying the shoes, we headed to Ikea to have dinner. To get there, we had to walk through Anchor Point. I came into Anchor point with nothing. On my way out, I came out with this blue top from G2000. Fuck yeah. That pretty much lightened up my mood, and I forgot all about me not being able to get the shoes I wanted.

Sunday was a bore. Uneventful. I was having a soar throat. A real bad one. Damn it. I’ve been getting stupid soar throats on and off for the past 4 weeks or so.

I was supposed to go for my medical checkup today. You know, the Polytechnic one? Well, my soar throat was worse. It felt like, well actually, it still feels like when you pour water onto a large cut on your body. It has that stinging feeling. So instead of going for my medical checkup, I decided to go to my family doctor to get some medicine. Now I’ve got my medicine. I better get fucking well soon.

And lastly, before going to the doctor, I watched the Academy Awards this morning. I liked it better than the past Academy Awards. I didn’t think that Hugh Jackman could pull it off because I never really saw him as a funny actor. But dude, he totally brought it. I loved the opening dance number, especially when he literally carried Anne Hathaway off from her seat and they started singing. She played Richard Nixon while Hugh played David Frost in the spoof of the nominated movie Frost/Nixon. Damn, she can sing well.

Awkward moment? When Jennifer Aniston was presenting the award for best animated film, and the stupid camera focused on Angelina (who was smiling).

I was rooting for Slumdog Millionaire. It won a whopping 8 Oscars. Everytime they won, I just started clapping and screaming “FUCK YEAH! YOU OTHER NOMINEES CAN SUCK IT!” Haha.

Best speech? Definitely Dustin Lance Black’s when he won Best Original Screenplay for the movie Milk. I seriously have GOT to watch Milk. Like, pronto. The second best speech was Kate Winslet’s when she won for Best Actress In A Leading Role for the movie The Reader. Now, that was a really nice movie. And the third? Sean Penn’s. That was funny.

Okay, that’s about it, I think.

Q And A.

Posted in Movies, Videos by Satish Vijay on February 16, 2009

Too much has happened last week.  Too much, that I don’t even know how to put into words. So let’s leave it at that.

Jamal (Dev) And Latika (Freida), Last Scene Of Slumdog MillionaireOn Saturday though, I went out with my family to Jurong Point. We ate at this place called Bentobox. Some Japanese restaurant. Then we decided to watch the much talked about “Slumdog Millionaire”. It was truly AMAZING! Like really really really AMAZING. From when young Jamal jumped into the pile of shit to see Amitabh Bachchan, or when Jamal’s mom dies during the Hindu-Muslim riots, to when Jamal and Salim escape from Maman and leave Latika behind, and when Jamal and Latika finally are together in the end! And like every other Indian movie, they had a Bollywood dance scene at the end of the movie which was real funny and cute. At the end of the movie, the audience were literally clapping and cheering. That’s how good it was!

Go watch it. Like, right now! It’ll make you realize that you’re lucky and it’ll make you appreciate your life more.

And come on, the movie has Dev Patel and Freida Pinto. HOT HOT HOT! If you watched “Skins”, which is like one of the most awesome shows ever, then you’ll know who Dev Patel is. He plays ANWAR! The sex crazed Muslim boy who dates Maxxie’s crazy stalker, Sketch.

British Adoration.

Maybe it’s the way they talk, express themselves with their cool British slang, or their sense of humor. Whatever it is, god, it’s gooooood. Haha.

Nearly Famous Cast

Cast Of The E4 Television Show "Nearly Famous"

These past couple of weeks, I’ve been keeping myself busy with a couple of Britsh television shows and movies (Skins,  Secret Diary Of A Call Girl, The Office, The Inbetweeners). There’s this new show called “Nearly Famous“. Well, new to me, that is. It aired sometime in 2007. It got canceled after only six episodes, but it’s pretty neat. Basically, it centers around 4 teenagers who attend a prestigious performing arts school in London. It’s not as good as “Skins”, but it’s not bad. Haha.

And then there are the British movies. “Love Actually”, “About A Boy”, “Bridget Jones Diary”, etc.

There’s just something different about them. Don’t get me wrong, American television and movies are great, but the British are more expressive, in a way.

Take “Skins”, for example. People compare it to shows like “Gossip Girl” and “The OC”. Yeah, there are the similarities, but “Skins” seems more real. It shows exactly what teenagers are going through. More truthful, in a way.

I don’t think I’m even making any sense. Am I?
(I guess what I’m trying to really say is that I love the British. Haha)

They have the “Nearly Famous” episodes on Youtube, if you want to check it out. Here’s the promo of the show.
